Old ink inscription from the original owner written on the front paste down and signed by Edward Magauran (Carlisle, PA.). Edward Magauran also signed his name on the title page, contents page, pages 5, 13, 135, 181, and bottom of page 300. Magauran, buried in the cemetery "Old Graveyard" Carlisle in Cumberland County, was a Private in the American Revolution. His name is one of the veterans listed on a bronze plaque in that cemetery.
