Description: An APACHE PRINCESS A Tale of the Indian Frontierby General Charles King Illustrated by Frederic Remington and Edwin Willard Deming 1903, First Edition, The Hobart Company, New York, 328 pages. A First Edition of one of General Charles King’s novels about life in Indian West after the Civil War. A West Point graduate, Class of 1866, he commanded a cavalry troop against the Apaches in 1874 where he was severely wounded and forced to retire from active duty. However he continued his service in the Wisconsin National Guard and when the Spanish-American War began in 1898 he was appointed Brigadier General of volunteers and continued in service until his death in 1932. Enhanced by 8 full-page illustration by Frederic Remington (2) and Edwin Willard Deming (6). Hardcover book in Good condition, tight and clean with no marks. Pages are clean and white with some darkening near edges. Red cloth covers with white titles on the spine and front and an illustration on the front are rubbed, but clean; book is solid and hinges are undamaged; minor wear at spine ends and corners.
