Text-blocks sturdy with all leaves securely held. Volume one lack frontis, but text leaves are very clear with a hint of age-goldening; isolated spots appear occasionally throughout; there is no foxing or staining, no annotations, underlinings, or paragraph markers. Volume two has a small worm hole track to lower margin through to p.xviii - text unaffected - it becomes a small hole to p.85/6. Volume two title-page has a couple creases to right corner. Please consult photographs fully as these are part of the description. Provenance:-Armorial bookplate of Edward G. Hunt to paste-downs of both volumes, dated 1866. Found underneath the bookplate of volume one is a pated printed strip telling of the worthiness of the author and another historian as historians. Furthermore, the paste-down of volume one has in old ink the inscription of a previous owner and another pasted strip showing these volumes for sale from a booksellers list. Author:-Jeremy Collier 23 September 1650 – 26 April 1726) was an English theatre critic, bishop and theologian. A lovely two volume set!
