Description: Judaea Æ Prutah, Herod Archelaus (4 B.C.- A.D. 6), Jerusalem, Bunch of grapes on vine with small leaf on left / Tall helmet with crest and cheek straps, viewed from front; below left, caduceus. Hendin 1196; Meshorer 73. Herod Archelaus plays a central role in the early life of Jesus Christ. Joseph, Mary and Jesus fled to Egypt to escape the wrath of Herod the Great. After herod the gread died, his son Archelaus succeeded him. Joseph and Mary did not want to return to Judea and so moved from Egypt to Nazareth in Galilee. Thus, Herod Archelaus is the reason that Jesus was born in Bethlehem but grew up in Nazareth. “But when he heard that Archelaus was reigning over Judea in the place of his father, Herod, he was afraid to go there. Being warned in a dream, he withdrew into the region of Galilee.” -Matthew 2:22 *All coins are guaranteed authentic. The coin in the pictures is the coin you will receive.
