Description: Pictured here is a 19th c. Staffordshire American Flag patriotic Mulberry plate signed, “American Flag, J H.” We believe the JH stands for Joseph Heath who worked in Tunstall, Stoke-On Kent from 1845-1853. He was known to make pottery for the American market during this time. This is a lovely mulberry plate with 12 panels on the rim and floral decorations placed evenly around the panels. In the center is an American flag with 13 stars and and a lovely floral decoration. It has a good mark on the underside. There is overall normal age related crazing and a rubbed area on the under side of the rim that covers about an inch, but only is exposed for about ¼” on the top (last two photos).
