Description: First pair of images show a seed-grown specimen plant in my collection in California growing in a 6"/15 cm bulb pan. The last two show the flowering-sized young plant offered for sale, an established offset 16" tall overall growing in a mineral + bark substrate in a 3.5/9 cm rose pot. Anthurium thrinax is a handsome terrestrial species in section Dactylophyllium native to the eastern Guianas and extreme NE Brazil. An inhabitant of shady understories in this region, it has been encountered at the mouths of caves, growing streamside, and similar sites. This plant is an offset grown from F1 propagated seed provided to me almost two decades ago by the late Lynn Hannon off her wild-collected accession #00-031 from French Guyana. Shade grown plants have lightly quilted, subvelvety, deep green trisect leaves to 20"/50 cm long. Despite the fully mature leaf size, the plants are short erect to only about 24"/60 cm tall, so a very suitable plant for warm vivaria and tent culture. Extremely rare in cultivation in the US; the very few other collections I know of that grow it also received it directly from Lynn in 2005-2006, or from me. All plants offered are greenhouse grown on benches in the San Francisco Bay Area, California. Shipping: Plants will be shipped via USPS Priority Mail with tracking number for physical addresses within three working days of receipt of payment, weather permitting. 72 hour heat packs are available for an additional nominal charge. Wherever possible, plants will be shipped in plastic pots. If bare-rooting is required for shipment to your state, please advise when auction is completed.
