Description: Antique 12th / 13th Century Medieval French Mirror CaseThis is an extremely unusual mirror case of 12th / 13th century medieval design but probably mid to late 1800's. Depicting knights & horses crossing a bridge with a rowing boat passing under the bridge, possibly a city being sacked. There are two crouching beasts to the outside edge but it appears there were four originally. The material is pressed rather than carved & is most probably either leather or gutta percha. There are similar mirror cases in museums but they are largely carved ivory, this one is certainly very old but I think it is more likely to be a 19th century copy if the material is gutta percha. CONDITION as per imagesThe overall condition is as you would expect from an object of substantial age that has been displayed/handled/used, usually over the lifetimes of several owners.DIMENSIONSDiameter 16.2cm max POSTAGE - see postage & payments tab for prices - I combine items for shipping wherever possible.- I charge only the actual cost of the postage & packaging materials, I do not charge a handling fee.- Items are packed defensively & extreme care is taken to ensure you receive goods in perfect condition.- Items will be sent to your Paypal registered address.
