Description: For sale is a saucer made by Amstel in the early 19th century around 1809. It is hand painted with nice scene in the center of a building near some water in a landscape surrounding including two guys on the opposite shore. One looks like he is ready to get in a boat that is sitting near them. A bit of gold trim to the edge. The saucer displays OK but there is a chip to the edge as shown, a larger black firing spot on the rim and some crazing and glaze lines some of which are stained as well as one you can see from the top and bottom around the edge of the well under the scene. You cannot feel them with your fingernail and the stained line seems to be under the glaze but I am not sure. It's not very obvious when on display mainly because of its location. It is still a nice example and a very hard to find one. The chip could easily be restored if one wanted to. The piece is marked with the rarely used over glaze black script Amstel mark as well as an incised script R and A in different locations underneath. The piece is 1 inch tall and just under 5 inches in diameter.
