Description: ITEM: Vintage Antique O.B. Ostby & Barton 925 Sterling Silver Filigree Orange & White Cameo Carved Shell Pendant or Pin/Brooch Signed DESCRIPTION: Nice signed antique C. (1890-1900) original 925 sterling silver cameo brooch and/or pendant. Carved shell bust of a woman looking to her right that is very lovely and detailed with a filigree sterling silver outside design case. The bail flips up or down so it can be a pendant and has a pin for being a brooch also. This piece is larger and more detailed than others I have seen. The item is Signed/Marked as "O.B. Sterling" for sterling 92.5% silver and made by Ostby and Barton. One interesting fact about this maker is that Engelhart Cornelius Ostby perished upon the famous Titanic ship in 1912 at the age of 64 while has daughter was one of the survivors. So an interesting piece of history here and this piece is likely made between 1890-1900. This would make a great addition to jewelry collection, resell in your shop, wonderful gift, for everyday personal use or wear it of course! MEASUREMENTS: APPROX.1 3/4" by 1 1/2" inches WEIGHT: 12.40 Grams Total CONDITION: Good(-) pre-owned condition and there is a small little surface mark or flaw to the cameo on the left side near the shoulder of the woman. Perhaps some light surface marks, wear, scratches/scuffs, patina, blemishes, aging/tarnishing to metal and general wear and imperfections from age and prior use.
