Description: RARE! Original Antique Munsey's Magazine Print Ad ~ Jan.1898"PRIZES FOR CHILDREN - All Children Like to Dress Dolls."Whitehead & Hoag Co., Newark, N.J. This ad features prize money awarded to 'children' from 6 to 60 (LOL!) incentivising them to submit their best dressed "Crystal Doll" ie dolls that were "pictures made in outline on celluloid, fitting over forms underneath which are to be covered with tiny bits of silk, ribbon, or cloth, cut from patterns furnished, making a fine effect as of a live person." Of course in order to enter the contest they must have purchased one of these recently patented (1895) dolls! Which is what makes this ad so RARE in that the Whitehead & Hoag company (founded in 1892 by Benjamin S Whitehead and Chester R Hoag) was most known for being the first BUTTON manufacturer. Their primary focus being novelty pins, buttons, and advertising signs... not dolls LOL!This would make the perfect accompaniment for the collector who might actually have one of those rare 'crystal dolls' if any even still exist?!?!ad size approx. 2 3/4" x 4"in EXCELLENT condition for being WELL OVER 100 years old!!period authentic and NOT a reproduction or reprintfrom smoke-free homeThanks for stoppin' and shoppin'! - Kari :o)SHIPPING NOTES: FAST shipping is always a TOP PRIORITY!
