Description: Antique 18ct Yellow Gold Ring With Natural Sapphires & Diamonds Size R - 1890s. Solid 18ct yellow gold. Hallmarked “ACG” Has had European hallmarks, they have been worn down to almost nothing. The ring is in decent condition. It has seen a lot of use throughout its life. The ring has been resized and fixed up a few times and it is visibly showing this. Almost nothing noticeable, the ring resizing can be clearly seen. The ring style is an antique dress ring. The ring is English made, it is dated to the mid to late 1890s. The main stones on this ring are sapphires and the secondary stones are diamonds. Each stone has been tested and all were confirmed to be natural and without colour enhancements. The diamonds have old European cuts and the sapphires have similar old style cuts. All stones are cut by hand. Both diamonds have an individual estimated carat weight of 0.05cts, which is a combined total carat weight of 0.10cts. The main sapphire has an estimated carat weight of 0.10cts and both of the smaller sapphires have estimated carat weights of 0.02cts. A combine total sapphire carat weight of 0.14cts. No stones are loose. No stones are missing. Each stone is original to the ring. There are a few fine scratches and tiny chips on the stones, nothing visible without magnification. The gold purity of this ring has been tested and it was confirmed to be solid 18ct yellow gold (75.0% purity) The ring has had European hallmarks at one point in its life, the hallmarks have been cut away and heavily worn down. a very faint outline is visible under high magnification. I unfortunately cannot get a photo to show you this as it’s next to impossible to see. I believe “ACG” is a person’s initials. The ring has been resized. It has had a piece of 9ct rose gold put into the ring band. This ring resizing is dated around 1940 so it may be in the rings best historical interest to keep it as is. You may rather have this professionally fixed up, all up to you the buyer. The ring has undergone some minor repairs to fix up some wear, the settings have been rebuilt and the ring band has been professionally fixed up. nothing noticeable. The ring is comfortable to wear as is. May require some work but it is wearable. I would suggest to take care when wearing the ring has it is antique and the ring resizing is a bit questionable due to its age. The ring has an inside diameter of 18.7mm An Australian size R Ring band width is 2.0mm Ring band thickness is 0.7mm The face of this ring is 5.6mm in width and the main settings sit at a maximum height of 2.0mm In perfectly wearable condition.
