Description: Recently purchased a box of old books at an estate auction, apparently whoever cleaned out the house just grabbed books off the shelf and boxed them up, Missouri rednecks, of which I am one, aren't too interested in old books, and no one took the trouble to look through these, their loss my gain. At home perusing through my box I found this set along with another early west 1st. edition set with appraisal sheets inside. Please zoom photos and ask any question before making an offer. This 4 volume set ( at some time ) was appraised at $2,000 as you can see on photo of appraisal # 8. Please zoom and read appraisal as it describes the set much better than I can. My untrained eye did notice a couple of flaws that may have happened since appraisal. I have shown slight damage to inside binding sheet on two books and some moisture damage to pages in vol. # 4. I did not go through each book page by page for obvious reasons of time and maybe doing other damage, but other than that the appraisal is very accurate. Through some research I find that a 1 st. edition of this 4 volume set is pretty hard to find and my offer price is very reasonable, after all, I did not pay "fair market value".
