Description: We are offering this rare 1st edition of Les uiles Essentielles et Leurs Principaux Constituants published in 1899 by Librairie Polytechnique. Its authors are E Charabot, J. Dupont and L. Pillet. The book contains 1,005 pages and is written in the French language. The covers measures approx. 9 7/8 in. by 6 1/4 in. Prior to chapter one, it appears that sections of the book had been publlshed separately, as dates ranging from May 1898 to May 1989 are listed for pages 1 through 1002. This truly impressive and weighty volume gathers much that was known about extracting essential oils and distilling them. Some sections feature many chemical composition formulas. Only a handful of academic libraries -- at least a couple of them in France -- have this book int this form in their collections and we were unable to find another copy for sale. Now if you only want the information available in this book, you can purchase a reprint of it but if you wat the book itself, perhaps only to preserve it in a UV blocking clear acrylic box or even just to have the pleasure of owning it, you may wish to consider purchasing this book. This rare volume is in good condition. Its binding shows wear to the leather at the edges of the covers and spine as well as to covers. There is a chip to the lather at the lower left edge of the spine. The front hinge is cracked but the binding is still quite tight. The rear hinge shows slight cracking and again, the binding is quite tight. The corners of the covers are slightly bowed inward. The free page of the rear end page has a dog eared upper left corner. The edges of the front end pages show tanning where they came in contact with the inner edges of the binding. This is also the case but to a lesser degree on the back end papers. There is a small amount of dampstaining to the first few pages along the lower edge at the front of the book and also to the last few pages of the book. There is tanning to most of the pages, especially to the upper part of each page where light would have entered. But overall, this truly rare book is in surprisingly solid condition.
