Description: Up for auction is an antique 19th century hand painted and lettered folk art German Fraktur signed and dated 1836. This was recently found at auction in the Lancaster County PA area. OFFERED AS FOUND, losses, very fragile, looks like it is on acid neutral matting and backing in a contemporary picture frame. Please see photos for all the losses to the artwork, with holes, losses, tears, stains, fold marks, pin marks, losses along the edges. Very acidic paper. Somewhat Pennsylvania themed artwork, common find at this auction. Lovely quill lettering. Some of the paints a little glossy, often from the binding agents used. Paint appears old to us. Could use additional brads in the back. No longer has the single hanger at top middle of frame. Folk art ~13.25x10 7/8", irregular. Frame ~1" with overall frame size 15.75 x 13.75" with 12.25 x 14.25" glass. No hanger.Quite a treasure find. Best of luck in bidding.
