Antique Arts & Crafts Alvin 999 Silver Olive Green Hampshire Pottery Loving Cup

Description: Up for sale is a stunning Arts and Crafts antique 3 handled loving cup. Cup itself is deep olive green pottery with a very high gloss glaze. Each of the three handles and the rim is decorated with silver. Silver is hallmarked with the mark of Alvin Manufacturing out of Providence, RI. Also has the marks 999 (I am fairly sure this is 999/1000 for 99.9 silver but it is worn) as well as "patented" and 247. Pottery itself does not seem to have a signature, however, it looks very much like the work of Hampshite Pottery. Pottery is olive green, almost looks black at some angles. Has a lighter green line extending from rim to base near one of the handles. Possibly a glaze seam? Glaze is very glossy. While it is hard to see especially in reflective light, Pottery is crazed under the glaze, across the whole outside and inside. Bottom of Cup is white with dark marks and glaze spatter. Bottom has 3 raised rougher spots, seem to correspond with the handle locations. Glaze has thicker spots on bottom. Lighter line similar to seam on inside below rim. Silver has extensive surface scratching and marks. Some tarnish. One handle on the outside bend has a dense cluster of scratches and scuffs. Some dings and marks throughout. This is an antique item, it has signs of use and age throughout. Overall, considering age, this is in excellent condition. While I can find examples of Alvin cups and examples of Hampshire Pottery that are separately each similar to this, I can find nothing showing a marriage between the two. It may even be unique, perhaps a commission between two New England companies. Quite heavy! Approx 5" tall. Double boxed when shipped for safety.
