More research on the item from online sources: Universal Potteries Company was formed in 1934 in Cambridge, Ohio by a group of Cambridge businessmen. The company is best known to collectors for its Cattail and Ballerina lines with a variety of decorations and treatments, and lines name/logo of the pattern clearly marked on bottom. This bowl does not have any markings of the pattern and its stamp in gold is slightly smudged. Bowl does have a lot of wearing on the red trim, crazing under the glaze, brown spots under the glaze and it looks ancient. However, it can be dated from 1934 to 1951, "poor people fine china" from the Great Depression Era or years during World War II. It had been made before 1951 when the name of the union “National Brotherhood of Operative Potters” was changed to International Brotherhood of Operative Potters (IBOP).
