Description: This sale is for a EAPG pitcher made by McKee and identified by Gene Florence and Replacements Ltd. as the Deer & Tree pattern, circa 1884. It is 8.5" tall , 4 3/8" wide and 7 1/8" deep and holds 64 ounces (half a gallon). Its typical Early American Pressed/Pattern Glass and somewhat difficult to find, Replacements Ltd., never has it in stock, it appears regularly on line for sale although when it does its usually with damage of some sort due to its size and age (plus folks still use them, they look great on the table). This came out of a local dealers estate sale and was part of his personal collection (not saleable merchandise). There is one condition issue, a controlled chip the size of half your pinky finger nail on the outside lip of the pouring spout, see the pics (the glass subject to the chip has not come off but remains in place and there is no edge damage due to the ding). We had one McKee pitcher Deer & Tree previously but it was the smaller size (32 ounce) and twenty years ago. The larger ones are harder to find in the wild for obvious reasons and the fact that the smaller size was produced in greater numbers. People preferred the smaller pitcher since it could be used for syrup, cream, gravy, etc. in addition to milk, juice and water. Therefore, less produced, fewer survived. Once again, we have the "RARE" issue reoccurring (see our other McKee listing). This is not a "RARE" piece, unusual and desirable but not worthy of its own pedestal in a museum. Its a nice piece of Early American Pressed/Pattern Glass special for its limited production and having survived 140 years with miniscule damage. Replacements hasn't had either the large or the small pitchers in this pattern for seven plus years. After discussing the piece with a buyer at Replacements Ltd. they indicated that the large pitcher in this pattern, with it's small condition issue, would have an asking price around $200. Using our 50% Replacements rule of thumb we arrive at our Buy It Now price (taking into consideration the single minor condition issue) of $50.00. If you're looking for a very good example for your collection or a gift this is it. If on the other hand you simply want a shelf decoration for display you might rather want to buy a piece that has more serious condition issues for half to two thirds of our price. We also have two other pieces of McKee in this pattern currently up on eBay. Its not too early to be thinking of Christmas gift giving. Now for the boilerplate. Please ask all questions prior to purchase since this is a no return sale (unless the item is significantly different than described). We've only had Two returns in over five hundred transactions on eBay (it was a mistake on my part, forgot to check the battery compartment in a camera's flash unit and the second was a variant of a motor drive). We treat our buyers the way we'd want to be treated if we were the buyers, see our feedback comments. We usually ship within 3 days of payment. The wife and I are comfortably retired and we're doing this to get rid of three generations of hoarding and its pizza and beer money for the grandkids in college. We believe it's dishonest to make money off shipping, you pay exactly what it takes to get your item(s) from our house to your address of record with eBay. We customarily overestimate shipping weight to assure shipping costs are covered. If there is a significant differential (more than $1) between the actual shipping cost and what you paid for shipping you will be reimbursed (our 100% guarantee, see our feedback comments). If its less than $1, thank you for the contribution to our eBay funded IRA (we're up to about $39). The pitcher will be wrapped securely for shipping. Of course, Buyers are responsible for additional costs i.e., insurance, customs duties, enhanced levels of delivery, etc.. Notify us prior to payment if any of these "non-customary" circumstances exist in order that proper adjustments may be made. Just our personal opinion but we don't think insurance is necessary in the majority of transactions but sometimes its cheap piece of mind. Thanks for looking.
