Description: For your consideration is an antique copper tea kettle. This tea kettle has a pretty straight neck but is similar to the goose neck. It is a solid piece of copper around the sides and is jointed at the base. Rolled edges at the opening. It has a solid, permanent handle with wood to prevent burning. The lid has a wood handle as well. This was purchased at an antique auction in England in the 1950's, so I am not sure of the age, but was an antique in the 50's. I would guess the age as somewhere between 1850 and 1920. The bottom of the kettle is blackened from sitting on the fire to heat. Not sure if it was a wood burning stove or directly over the fire, but the blackening would resemble open fire. It does not rub off so would take a good hard cleaning to try to remove. This kettle has no leaks, still holds water fine. Inside looks rusty, so if you are going to use this make sure to clean really well. I just rinsed it out to see if it leaked. Great patina. There are some dents on the outside as can be seen in the photos. It measures 8" tall to the top of the handle and 11" from spout to edge. Bottom of kettle is 8 1/2" in diameter.
