Description: Antique Framed CELLULOID Cardboard GEO. PEDERSEN VISALIA, CALIF. Sign, Florist? Click images to enlarge Description ANTIQUE ADVERTISING STORE SIGN Interesting and unusual antique embossed celluloid/cardboard advertising sign measuring about 25" tall by 14" wide. Housed in a muted gold painted gesso over wood frame, it depicts a lovely bouquet of Carnations in decorative vase with larger pitcher behind. Faintly bearing the name GEO. PEDERSEN ~ VISALIA, CALIFORNIA in gold on the top center, I'm assuming this was a florist or similar business - believe sign dates to the early 1900s. Condition is very good with gesso chipping and paint loss to the frame - separation on the top left frame corner and some lifting/ crimping to the sign at that area as shown. Artwork is beautifully and deeply embossed, colorful and well detailed with a minor scuff and display wear - back is wood panel with a sawtooth hanger. The lettering is hard to read as it is gold on a dark ground - the flash is brightening this up a bit and the overall image is a bit yellowed from the flash - best representation of tone if the first photo. Think this is a wonderful, large and striking antique advertising piece - these are so hard to find - lovely addition to any collection or display! If questions, please contact me - thanks!
