Description: This 3 ½ inch tall shoulder head, manufactured by the Simon & Halbig Porcelain Factory in Germany circa the early 20th century (1900?), is not a complete doll but only the bisque shoulder head, pate, mohair wig in wonderful original set, and the original pair of lower bisque arms. I believe this head would be appropriate to create a doll of 10-11 inches in height. The bisque head and arms are all in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. The head retains the original pate and fabulous original set light brunette mohair wig. This particular mold just does not look right without this specifically styled antique wig. The head also has a closed mouth and set glass eyes. Along the bottom edge of the rear shoulder plate, “S & H//1160—1” is incised. This Simon and Halbig mold number has traditionally be named as a “Little Women” type doll. The head is often depicted with a cloth body reminiscent of a young adolescent girl. I know, with the artistic endeavors of a new owner, this could be a stunning doll. I also believe the head and arms could be displayed just as they are with no body attached. Simon & Halbig is known for their quality bisque creations and this one does not disappoint.
