Description: Fresh from the estate of a world traveler and antique collector, comes this exquisite, one of a kind, handmade, hand-tooled tin and copper backgammon game set! This Ottoman Empire era box is completely covered in a metal skin with intricate, hand stamped designs featuring birds, flowers and Middle Eastern geometrics. When closed, it is 17" x 9.375" x 2.375". After more research, this box probably dates form 1890 to 1900! The interior points are made with an inlay of richly patterned olive wood (the darker variety) and a lighter blond wood. There are some darker areas in the corners and around the edges from age and dust buildup. The interior has been cleaned with lemon oil. The pip cups are lined with a burgundy cloth material that is stiff, but undamaged. Included are 15 wooden pips of each color and a pair of chocolate brown dice.
