Description: A rare and unique antique miniature portrait of “ Marie De Medici “. Europe, likely France, Circa 1860. ALL hand painted on porcelain, Signed middle right ( but I can’t read the signature ), circa 1860. ( or earlier). This pretty piece is ALL hand painted ( not retouched ), but all hand painted on porcelain, the porcelain is convex, on his back you can read ( Marie De Medici ) with a number ( see photos ). Marie De Medici ( second wife of king Henri IV de France ). Regarding the frame, it is also a museum quality, ALL hand carving on wood, in the Rococo style and taste, no missing pieces, some tiny cracks and old glue, with his original French gilding. A high quality gilding and hand carving ( Fino gold ). The “ FINO “ technique, is a very high quality work, which needs a lot of skill and time. It consists of adding a very thin layer of French plaster to the wood, smooth it, and then add a layer named “ Boule “, usually red color, then apply a real gold thin layer. This technique can last for decades, if well preserved. No chips or cracks or damage to the porcelain, some tiny cracks to the glaze of the painting ( as shown on photos ).
