Description: This listing is for an antique, brown oyster plate, featuring six outer wells and a center well for sauce. Each well is painted with lovely brown accents, and there is gold painted along the center well and plate rim. The plate is a little over 8 inches across. There are no maker’s marks or stamps on the plate. However, there is a “burn” mark/stamp imprinted on the back of the plate (see photos 18-20). I believe this “burn” was supposed to be used as an identifier, as opposed to damage, but I did not find any results in my research. I do not know the age or origin of this plate. A truly beautiful and unique antique plate. The plate is in very good antique condition for its age. No signs of cracks, crazing, or repairs. Some of the brown paint on the surface has rubbed off. There are some discolored spots/marks along the surface of the plate, and the gold along the rim of the plate has rubbed off a decent amount, all visible in the photos. There is a TINY spot along the rim that catches a thumb. It’s not visible when on display.
