Description: Ship Captain’s ink well made by Philip Ashberry and Sons in Sheffield. Based on the backstamp, I believe this was made between 1856 and 1900. A hinged lid reveals the glass ink pot. I do not ink pot is original, but it fits well. There are four holes meant for holding quill pens. I don’t have one, so I photographed it with a porcupine quill instead (quill not included). As found. There are dents and some scratching. I wiped the dust off and made no further attempt to clean it. It looks clean inside. The hinge for the lid works nicely. Please look at all the photos. The total height is 3.5 inches, and the diameter of the base is 7.5 inches. Shipping via USPS Priority Mail.
