Description: This is an antique cross/crucifix signed JERUSALEM. It appears to be late 19th century. I believe it may be a pilgrimage cross. For an antique, it is in remarkably good condition. With hanging loop included, it measures 4.375" x 2.25" and weighs 16.0 grams. The wood is .25" thick. The front is crafted with dark-color grout and mother of pearl micro-mosaics. The corpus is metal. It appears to be brass. I believe the wood is olive wood. Reverse is marked JERUSALEM. There is a single mother of pearl disk on the center of reverse with what appears to be Hebrew lettering: SION. There is a brass hanging loop crafted into the top. This antique cross/crucifix has aged remarkably well. It appears to have been carefully protected over the decades. It is sturdy and fully intact. It has a few age-related scuffs, and the original shellac has worn away in some places. An interesting note: close examination of the shellac on reverse reveals the fingerprints of the original craftsman. There is a photograph of this. I have set my offer threshold relatively high on this item. If your offers are refused, that is most likely the reason. I welcome your messages. This cross will arrive at your location carefully packaged. USPS, Priority Mail, in a box large enough to allow sufficient room for adequate, protective packaging. Trackable. Thank you for looking.
