Description: This is an antique silver plated Vaishravana riding a snow lion statue. I really didn’t know if it was silver or plated , I looked at it with my loupe and there are definitely tones of brass color showing up there. I’ve had it for over 30 years. It has natural tarnish and I’ve never tried to polish it. It does have some bluish colored corrosion in some spots which leads me to believe this is definitely plated. I also did a magnet test and it is not magnetic. I tried to do some online research and found only one other that looked like this one listed on an antiques website and it was described as a 19th century piece and was listed for 1480 euros. It is signed with a mark on the bottom and comes from Tibet. Highly detailed, measures 4.5 inches tall and 4.0 inches wide. Vaishravana is the God of warfare and usually portrayed as a warrior king. He is the guardian of the Northern direction and he is also a protector. Here he is shown riding on the sacred snow lion, the guardian of the Buddha.
