Antique Small Indian Kashmir Papier Mache on Brass Kashkul Beggar's Bowl Boat

Description: Seller: Alley-Antiques DESCRIPTION: This is an antique Indian Kashmir Papier Mache on Brass in the shape of a small Kashkul Beggar's Bowl Boat. Handmade in the late 19th Century.Circa 1880s to 1890s. Nice detailed gold flowers in a very dark green background. Lots of work went into this. You will see a lot of vintage and newer Kashkul beggar's boat shaped bowls, but this small antique one is a little harder to come across. Look at the bottom of this piece, such a dark patina that only happens over time. Antique. Over 100 years old. Good condition age. The papier mach on the brass pieces is a bit fragile and usually suffer from chips, and cracks. This small boat shaped bowls does have some very minor tiny chips to the papier mache. There are a few minor age cracks to the papier mache typical for its age. Darkened patina on visible brass areas. Beautiful hard to find small example. Measures about 5" long at extremes, and about 2 1/2" tall to top of end handles, and about 2" wide at extremes. Nice antique Kashmir Papier Mache on Brass kashkul.
