Description: Antique Thai Architectural Ornament, Sukhothai kilns, 15th century. A glazed hollow ceramic roof tile finial of the Naga/Makara Dragon torso design supported by front talons and his upright bearded head with open mouth bearing his pointed teeth, further decorated with a boss relief collar and iron brown under glaze painted highlights, covered in a off white transparent glaze. This ceramic scuplture was created in North-Central Thailand during the Sukhothai Kingdom. A 15th century architectural ornament, high-fired glazed stoneware roof tile for decorating and elaborately embellishing the roof of a Thai temple. Later large custom fitted teak rectangular base with an angled front included. Measuring overall: 19.375 in. high x 5.5 in. wide x 9 in. deep. (49.2 x 14 x 23cm) Weight: 14.5 lbs.
