Description: This is another Beautiful Antique Victorian Mourning Locket in Excellent condition. It is an Antique Victorian piece which is made from Gutta Percha. Gutta Percha was a solid black wood closely related to a “rubber tree” which was newly discovered trees in Malaysia & New Guinea in 1843 and was introduced to Europe & the Americas at this time. This awesome locket has very intricate and detailed etching inside of the locket…which is amazingly intricate and speaks of its quality. The total lenght including the gutta percha loops than can accompany any chain or ribbon is 2” in length. Please note mourning jewelry was often fastened by a ribbon made from velvet or satin. The locket itself is 1 1/4” in length. The depth or thickness of the locket is 3/4” inches. Wt - 9.4 Gms A wonderful piece up for your consideration. Please refer to pics.
