It is stained and there is staining and crazing throughout the glaze. also a piece of the handle on the top of the lid where you would put your thumb to push back the handle has broken off. it does have a maker stamp on the bottom but I can't make it out. All I can see is the word "china". in this case it does not mean made in China. they are referring to the fact that it is pottery. not the country.
