Description: Antique WOOD Industrial Factory SEWING Thread Spindle Spool 12" BEEHIVE Bobbin 3 Click images to enlarge Description ANTIQUE WOOD SPINDLE BOBBIN Large primitive antique turned wood industrial or factory spindle bobbin for thread or yarn, measuring about 12-1/4" in height. I've heard this shape referred to as a beehive bobbin or spool - it is incise-carved with machined piercings for use, and a brass collar around the top (plating loss to the brass). Featuring an open port on each end for machine mounting, condition is very nice with no chips, or damage other than age related wear. I've been using this as a candleholder on my mantle - the opening is exactly 1" wide - patination is warm, dark and rich with age. A lovely antique piece - nice addition to any collection or display!
