Apple Day Fundraising Boy Scouts of Canada / Scouts Canada Apple Day is a fundraising tradition that Boy Scouts of Canada started in 1933. Yes, for 90+ years this annual event, normally held in October, gave youth members of Scouting the opportunity to ask the community for help to fundraise for various scouting activities. Apples were not SOLD but given out to the general public to show their appreciation for the support of the community. Optional donations were gladly accepted with all donations collected staying with the local groups, offsetting the cost of activities, equipment and trips, making Scouting accessible for all youth. With each donation, the youth was instructed to give a BIG thank you. They would also hand out an Apple Day tag that the person would attach to their clothing with the string hang tag or eventually with a tag with a button hole design.
