Description: From the official website..."ARBALETE GENES DAVID. Taking over the torch of the Crossbow brand, Genesis David develops, from its workshop in Granetias, the creations of one of the oldest manufactures of Thiernese cutlery. Genesis David was the founder of the company in 1922. The company now bears his name and he created his brand on behalf of the company. In 1930, Mr. Genesis David began to develop a very intimate relationship with the Laguiole knife by manufacturing the Aveyronese model (laguiole without bees). Then in 1950, Genesis David played an essential role in the development of the Laguiole by foreuring close ties with the descendants of the creator of the Laguiole knife. His two sons joined him and, in the 1960s, Jean-Louis relaunched the outsourcing of the manufacture of the Laguiole model, which then represented more than 50% of the turnover achieved. Completely manufactured on site, from the cutting of raw materials to packaging, the traditional Laguiole made by Genesis David crossbow is now a reference. If the tools have evolved over the centuries, these are the same gestures as reproduced those who continue to manufacture the products signed Genesis David Crossbow. In our Thiers workshops, everyone wants to live up to the reputation of excellence of a master coutelier, creator and manufacturer. All the stages of manufacturing are respected in order to produce in its entirety, from the cutting of carefully selected raw materials to its packaging, the knife made with the utmost respect for the traditional gesture. From cutting the blade, through its soaking and polishing, to mounting it, it takes more than 200 steps to make a three-piece knife (blade/corkscrew/punch).Made by the master concealer, the pressing and cutting of the horn allows to obtain perfect sleeves, from a living material worked manually." Perhaps it loses a little something in translation, but I think you get the idea that these knives are made with the best materials and built to the high standards of it's tradition. The handle of the saber is animal horn, and the blade is corrosion-resistant Sandvik stainless steel. The spine of the handle features file-work and embellishments true to the signature of the craftsman who made it. The saber is new, and comes in the original wooded presentation box. The French certificate is included, and the original sticker is still on the handle. The overall length is 18", and the blade is 11". The blade is not sharpened. It is not intended to be used to cut anything - just "whack off" a champagne cork. It will be securely packed and shipped by USPS Priority Mail, fully insured and signature confirmation required.
