Description: Purchased from an estate, the decedent of which had purchased directly from the Estate of Armin Landeck in 1985. The work was conservation framed using 100% acid free material. The art is in perfect condition within the frame. The frame measures 31 3/4” tall and 26” wide. It is from an edition of 100 and is signed by the artist, dated (1972) and numbered, in pencil. The technique/material used is engraving In “Black House, Bleecker Street,” the clearly delineated thick-to-thin linework of the sky becomes a stylized framing of the painted building; rounded shapes are repeated in cast shadows and light, contrasting with the otherwise ruler-straight lines of the architecture. The scene becomes an elegantly formal rendering of an everyday city corner. According to Landeck, this building, which is no longer standing, was really a black house. It was on the corner of Bleecker and West Broadway in Manhattan. Will be shipped with the utmost care.
