Description: INSTRUCTIONS INCLUDED WITH EVERY ORDER!Green Globe Artichoke (Cynara cardunculus var. scolymus) - 25 Seeds•Heirloom•Non-GMO•American grown seedsDescription:Native to the Mediterranean, Green Globe Artichoke seeds have been grown for decades and their fruits eaten by and reserved for the noble and rich in ancient Greece and Rome. In addition to a mild flavor similar to asparagus, Artichoke vegetable plants can grow to be large, interesting focal points in gardens. Vibrant green stalks are adorned with intriguing leaves and topped with buds, which can turn purple if left uncut. Artichokes grown from seeds are rich in antioxidants, and can be grown as an annual in climate zones 5-7, or as a perennial in zones 8 and higher. Globe artichoke is actually a variety of thistle. If allowed to go to seed, green globe artichoke has a very similar spiky flower as seen in the pictures.Growing Instructions:Seeds can be sown indoors, then transplanted outside about four weeks before the last average frost. Direct sow, you'll want to plant the seeds 4' apart, with a space of 6' between rows, in a compost or mulched soil. Artichoke Vegetable plants require consistent watering and full sunlight. When the top buds are a consistent green color, they can be cut. In a few short days, the lower Artichoke buds will be ready to be harvested. If the Artichoke plant is being kept for aesthetic purposes in a garden, leaving the buds uncut will result in them turning purple in color.•Free shipping on orders over $35.•$3.50 flat rate shipping up to $35.•Growing instructions included on each seed packet.*All information is provided for educational purposes only.
