Description: British Parliament 1925 Vintage Lithograph Artillery - Gun carriages, armaments of early 1800s -- 1808 Rees Copperplate-Engraved Print Great History - Typical Age Faults Copper-Plate Engraving by Wilson Lowry Original copperplate engraving by Lowry for “The New Cyclopaedia” compiled by Abraham Rees and published c1808 by Longman, Hurst, Rees, and Orme, of Paternoster Row in London. Abraham Rees (1743 – 9 June 1825) was a Welsh nonconformist minister, and compiler of Rees's Cyclopædia (in 45 volumes). Having served a long apprenticeship as a reviser of Chambers’ Encyclopaedia, between 1802 and 1820 Abraham Rees produced the greatest encyclopaedia of the early 18th century, a completely original, finely illustrated work, using the finest artists and experts in each field. Wilson Lowry FRS (24 January 1762 – 23 June 1824) was an English engraver. 1808 Scientific Print Size: Approximately 8" X 10" Blank on Reverse Condition: Excellent - Very Good - Good - Fair - Poor (but of historical interest) << Click Here to See Other Prints >> This is an Original Item - Not a Reproduction Important: P/H is combined on multiple items that can be mailed together. Prior to this, virtually all prints (and engravings) were produced as illustrations to be included in a manuscript, book, newspaper, or pamphlet. Therefore, a vast majority of original prints have been over the years removed from these original sources. Prints are produced using many different techniques: relief printing (woodcut & wood engraving), intaglio printing (steel & copper plate engraving, drypoint, aquatint, etc), and planographic printing (lithography, serigraphy, inkjet, laser, etc.). While the commercial value of a print depends on such factors as age, rarity, and condition, the real value of a print is its tie to its history and/or its esthetic beauty. SPECIAL NOTE ON P/H: If purchasing multiple items, sometimes Ebay combines P/H correctly... sometimes not. Fill free to request a combined invoice before paying.
