Description: Note: I've had many, many Tascam DA-88 machines come in and get used for various purposes over the last few decades, unfortunately they are usually from local composer music rooms and meant to be sold but I can't access my DAT tapes, tools, cables, etc. at that moment, so they go in the warehouse which is like putting them under the front edge of a glacier, later I have a few more and the same, then later I clear something out and have my DA-88 DTRS resources in hand again, but can't find the machines for years. I have machines here I haven't even seen since the 2000s, and more from about 12 years ago. However, I cleared out some equipment racks and got out some machines that were meant to be sold as-is, some were not, and are being parted out here. I'd answered a few customer requests and listed some specific items before now, but I'm trying to sell a lot of loose DA-88 parts right now with a few dozen brief listings. Right now I'm trying to do 13 more listings of parts from one particular machine, Tascam DA-88 serial number 240377 which was fairly clean but not working properly, my own notes (likely from around 2010) say it was machine #3 of several received in a huge truckload from one facility, "head hours 00/shuttle hours 00 meaning a dead battery cleared it, SYS 3.10, SERVO 2.02, S. error 31 once, error light comes on after 1 second". All these parts are from that machine. To be clear, I've had a few of the other ones like DA-98 or HR whatever here and there, but mostly sold them quickly and as far as I know, EVERYTHING DTRS that I have left in stock is DA-88 and will be sold. Beyond this lot of parts, there is, I think, another one nearby to part out the same way, plus somewhere I don't know sealed in an airtight flight case is at least one other machine that I can sell, a TRULY excellent laboratory machine from the Synhouse buyout of the Ampex/Quantegy factory, DA-88 #240350, they had used it to certify various batches of newly manufactured Quantegy DTRS tape, an absolutely spotless machine front and back, and surplus to company needs, as the Synhouse DTRS reference machine is another one altogether. Also still unsold (not that I'll surely sell it ALL, but probably will) from the Ampex/Quantegy laboratory is the entire 1630 kit, I mean the whole thing that you've never seen, the Sony PCM-1630, Sony DMR-4000, (2) Leader LAG-120B audio generators, Sony DTA-2000 Digital Tape Analyzer, and the factory printer for the Sony DTA-2000 error checking printouts (none of you clowns have that, don't lie, you just got the DTA-2000 on eBay and have never even SEEN one hooked up as it's meant to be used), plus the power inlet setup for all those in the 1630 certification rack but that's kinda useless, and the Ampex DST-600s which is the most mindblowing data backup machine of all time and uses the D-2 digital tape format for storage (the size of a TV dinner, and really, really fast). The item is as described in the title and as shown in the photos. ALL of my photos are the actual items, always. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Comments: -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Unlike nearly every other seller on eBay, I treat Tascam cards and all electronics as the manufacturers do (and Synhouse IS a manufacturer since 1999) and I use proper anti-static packaging, I don't use plain bubble wrap (only pink, black, or blue that are anti-static coated), or let packing peanuts touch them, etc., this is especially damaging to memory devices. ALL the time I have had them, they have been handled properly and stored properly, then they are packed properly and shipped properly, and you will receive them in proper anti-static packaging. Sold as-is for parts or repair, no returns/refunds. This will be safely packed for shipment. Free local pickup in the Los Feliz district of L.A. is okay if you can work around my busy schedule.
