These weights are the flat type, this style was used from the mid 1970's to date. Each weight is 27 grams or 0.9 ounces apiece, and is 4 7/8" in length. Once in a while a weight may have a little surface rust showing, this will not interfere with the ability to use the weight as intended and can either be sanded off or ignored as the weights are not usually visible when the model is assembled; we find that double weighting of these tank cars helps their operation in longer trains and when doing switching moves.
