Description: CHARTERED MARCH 24TH 1881, THIS BANK WAS THE FIRST NATIONAL CHARTER ISSUED IN ATLANTIC CITY OUT FIVE NATIONAL BANKS WHICH WERE EVENTUALLY CHARTERED IN ATLANTIC CITY THROUGH 1907. THIS BANK ABSORBED THE NATIONAL BANK OF ATLANTIC CITY DECEMBER 19TH 1931. ONLY $5 AND $10 NOTES WERE ISSUED IN THIS SIZE BEGINNING JULY 15TH 1929. NO 1929-2 TYPES WERE ISSUED.FORTY-EIGHT NOTES OF THE 1929 SERIES ARE KNOWN IN THE CENSUS. HOWEVER, ONLY 37 $10 NOTES ARE KNOWN TO SURVIVE. THIS IS THE SECOND HIGHEST THIRD PARTY GRADED NOTE KNOWN. ONLY A VF-35 IS HIGHER. ONLY THREE OTHER NOTES ARE SAID TO BE HIGHER IN GRADE, BUT THEY ARE NOT THIRD PARTY GRADED. L.C. CONOVER, JR., WAS CASHIER AND J.W. ALCOM, PRESIDENT. THIS COMBINATION EXISTS ONLY FOR THE YEAR 1932, THE LAST FULL YEAR OF OPERATION. BETWEEN THE YEARS 1931 TO 1933, FOUR OF THE FIVE BANKS IN ATLANTIC CITY EITHER CLOSED, WERE PLACED IN RECEIVERSHIP OR WERE LIQUIDATED. THIS BANK WAS THE LAST OF THE FOUR BANKS TO CLOSE. IT WAS PLACED IN RECEIVERSHIP JANUARY 30TH, 1933. ONLY THE BOARDWALK NATIONAL BANK SURVIVED THE DEPRESSION. HISTORY OF PRICING: A non TPGed AU-55 brought $1610 in 2007.
