Background To Issue: Upon the election of the Cook Government in 1913, a stamp depicting the Sovereign, King George V, was commissioned. The first (engraved) version of the 1d was produced using recess printing. Subsequent printings of the 1d and all other ranges were done using typography (letter-press).Due to war-time conditions, the stamp appeared in a wide range of colour shades, particularly in the 1d. This has resulted in a rich field of philatelic research. Important: If purchasing more than one item please request an invoice or wait for one to be issued combining postage.
