Description: AuthenticSouth Texas Tortugas Projectile Point, Arrowhead, Dart South Texas Prehistoric Native American Artifact, NuecesRiver Watershed, Early Archaic to Middle Archaic (3000 BC to 2000 BC), NeoglacialGlacial Period, Edward Plateau Chert, Excellent Condition. The Tortugas Point is probably part of the continuumbeginning with the Early Triangular, the Tortugas, the Anthon, and the FresnoPoints. Tortugas and Anthon Points are the most similar with the maindifference being the smaller size of the Anthon Point with the point beingsharper and slightly lanceolate. TheEarly Triangular is also the most like the Tortugas in appearance. The Early TriangularPoint is most often more equilateral in its triangular appearance and basalthinning makes this point much thinner at the base with the removal of longitudinalflakes.
