Personally I recommend being fluent with the game play of Squad Leader before playing with the add-ons. Those not intimately familiar with Squad Leader will likely find Cross of Iron & Crescendo of Doom overwhelming but when you're ready the addons will bring a feeling of grand strategy that very few games achieve. For shipping I put the 3 bonus maps in the Squad Leader box and the extra scenarios (200s) with Crescendo of Doom.
