Description: For sale is a medium 1988 Avirex G1 leather flight jacket featuring a timeline/flow chart commemorating the 14th Air Force Flying Tigers and their service in World War II. The blood chit on the back was worn when the Flying Tigers fought against the Japanese and defended supply lines coming through Burma in support of China in the early part of American involvement in the war. The blood chit was meant to let the Chinese know the pilot wearing the jacket fights in support of them and is not an enemy. The Chinese characters translate to "This foreigner has come to China to help in the war effort. Soldiers and civilians, one and all, should rescue and protect him." The jacket is in good shape overall! There are some signs of wear, mostly on the sleeves, but Avirex designed these jackets to appear more and more worn after each time wearing. The patch on the lower right interior of the jacket confirms this, saying "The appearance of the leather used in this garment is created by a special hand tanning process and is designed to look older with each wearing." The lighter coloration is supposed to be there. I haven't noticed other potential condition issues so this jacket still appears a bit closer to new Please examine the pictures for the best idea of condition and feel free to ask any questions you may have!
