This design, which features an authentic Azabache (or Jet stone) bead is designed using 4 and 6mm gemstones in your choice of black Onyx or white synthetical Turquoise. The genuine faceted Azabache bead, measures approximately 3/8" and is hand cut. A red or a black lampwork glass Evil Eye is included – Protec aléjate el mal. Choose from either a 10" or a 12" length. NOTE: Genuine Azabache can stain or streak if treated improperly, so please take care. ------------------------- AZABACHE JET STONE: Jet is an inky black opaque, yet lightweight gemstone, derived from wood that has undergone extreme compression over millions of years. It is one of the oldest known gemstones and can be dated to over 150 million years old. Historically used for carving adornments since the Neolithic era (7,000-1700 B.C.). Both the Romans and Vikings carved Jet for decorative use ranging from buttons and rings to tiny sculptures and protective amulets. Today, where it can be found in the northern coast of Spain, it is highly valued due to the belief around the stone’s spiritual abilities. Azabache is a magical and protective amulet and is used to bring good fortune, rid one of negative energy, and protect those who wear it from fear, indecisiveness and the harmful gaze and malevolent stare of the Evil Eye (Mal de Ojo).
