Description: "Antietam .. Crossroads of History' brochure/program for the Centennial activities at Antietam August 31 through September 17, 1962. Produced before political correctness and woke "history" destroyed an honest look at the War Between the States or as some called it The War of Northern Aggression. It was never a "civil war" because the South never intended to overthrow the government they just wanted to leave the union. A University of Maryland study done in the 1960s' during the centennial concluded that it took the Southern states including Maryland,100 years to fully recover from the war. Based on current events I would say we have still not fully recovered. A great gift for someone who is interested in real history. Illustrated with a map, drawings and historic photos. Printed on quality paper. Rare brochure especially in this condition. Note: We are selling this and other items that were once my father's to raise money for my brother who is now essentially homeless living in a shed. He lost our family home that my grandfather had built around 1912. My brother was a drummer boy in Darby's Rangers a Civil War reenactment group during the 1960's Centennial. My brother did essentially volunteer work around the United States, in India, Sri Lanka, and in Japan for over 50 years. He became an ordained Buddhist monk in Japan about 30 years ago, the First American to do so in decades. He failed to save for his senior years and he is now in his 70's. He lost the family home due to an unexpected death in the family and his lack of funds to pay off the estate. Your purchase will go to aid him in his current struggle. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
