Description: In early 2013, Tyler Hays began construction on a ceramics studio in an unrenovated portion of his workshop in Philadelphia. While excavating near the studio to install geothermal heating, Tyler and his crew discovered a vein of high quality stoneware. They named it the Frankford Clay Pit. After digging out about 25 bathtubs of clay, they backfilled the hole. The BDDW Ceramics are created from this limited quantity, as-local-as-it-gets clay. The ceramics are all individually handcrafted, drawn, and painted in Tyler's ceramics studio. They are made in small runs, and each piece is one of a kind. This stunning mug has never been used.
