Description: This Belmont antique candy box measures 8 11/16 inches by 4 11/16 inches by 2 1/8 inches. The background color of the paper is a deep blue. Printed on the paper is the image of a winged dancer who wears ballet shoes. Her wings are orange. Her skirt is edged in orange. The outside edge of the base of the box is orange which contrasts nicely with the blue. Yellow and orange Japanese lanterns are in the scene to the left and right of the dancer. Printed on the top is, “Leading Lady, Belmont Chocolates, One Pound Net". Printed on the side is, “Belmont Chocolate Co., Cambridge, Mass.” The corners of the base and lid are bumped and show wear. The edges of the top and base also show wear. This box would have been made in the 1920s. The reference number for this item is #4503.
