Description: This is a stunning example of a pre-Civil War Americana jacquard woven coverlet. Signed “ ISAAC SHEAFFER COVERLET WEAVER JACKSON TOWNSHIP STARK COUNTY OHIO 1842.” Distinctive four color design consisting of red, blue, gold, and ivory. Believed to be wool/linen. Motifs: Eagles clutching arrows, swirling leaves, trees, and flowers. Stars accent the border. The two side edges are flanked with a self-fringe. Parts of the fringe are missing (see photos).Woven in one solid panel without seams. Size 86” long; 78” wide excluding fringe. Condition is very good consistent with age. There are a few loose threads but no conspicuous fading or stains. We found no holes or tears. The freshness of the colors and unusual intricate design add great appeal to this piece. <<<< FREE SHIPPING BY USPS PRIORITY MAIL>>> Delivery only to the 48 contiguous U.S. states.
