Description: Beautiful color etching Paris 1910s-1930s SIGNED Leopold Robin A beautiful etching of the Place Vendome, Paris. The picture is SIGNED "L Robin" and appears to be hand-colored. The etching is unframed, on a piece of cardboard/oak tag/construction paper measuring about 4 7/8" x 8 1/8". The picture itself measures about 2 3/8" x 5 7/8". Based on the automobile in the lower right-hand corner, the sketch appears to be from the 1910s - 1930s. Our father collected books and artwork from that period. During the late 1980s, he lived and worked in Europe for around 3 years, during which time he frequently made expeditions looking for books and art. Leopold Robin (1877-1939) was a French engraver who specialized in etchings. He left behind a large collection of engravings signed L. Robin, mostly depicting different locations in France. This sketch is suitable for framing, although it could use some cleaning. Our father framed many of the pictures he found, but this one must have remained on his to-do list. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Our father was a bibliophile who collected rare books, letters, and ephemera for more than 60 years. For now and into the foreseeable future, we will be listing rare paper items from his estate. Take a look at all our items for sale. We combine shipping upon request.
