Description: European beekeepers made coiled baskets out of grass or straw called bee skeps for honeybees to inhabit and make honey in before modern hives were invented. The busy bee is a symbol of industriousness. This relief tile is hand pressed in stoneware and glazed to emphasize its sculptural dimension. Round tile measures roughly 5 and 5/8 inches in diameter and is about 5/8 of an inch thick at the edges to about an inch deep at its thickest point. It is notched on the back so it can hang on a nail.
